About For When You Break

Welcome, I am so glad you are here! This website is designed to support people who identify as high-functioning drinkers and those in recovery. When I realized that I had a “problem,” I could not find people like me to identify with. Thankfully through the fantastic world of #quitlit, I found amazing sobriety memoirs with stories of women who struggled just like I did.

I came up with the name for my website, “For When You Break,” because I realized my life had been a series of “breaks.” My breaks have been both terrifying and beautiful. I have had mental breakdownsheartbreakbreakthroughs, and the experience finally breaking wide open into the beautiful world of sobriety.

Additionally, I also considered myself a “broken person” for a long time. First, I was broken because of childhood trauma, shame, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Then exceptionally broken because of my relationship with alcohol and the effects it was having on my life. Then I realized that these breaks in me make me strong because I am resilient; as humans, we all are.

Feeling broken sucks. It’s soul-crushing. However, the breaking process can be beautiful and amazing, which is what this webpage is all about.

About Me

Hello, I am so glad you are here! At this time I am keeping my accounts anonymous as I am sharing very vulnerable content that could be harmful to my family and career. That being said, by staying anonymous I am able to share the nitty-gritty details of my complicated childhood, alcohol abuse, and recovery.
